Biography

With over ten years of teaching in multigrade school environments, I honestly love this method of teaching and learning. It brings me joy to watch students of varying ages and abilities working together and helping each other throughout each day with grade level skills. Students develop habits of empathy, leadership, and independence. Teaching a variety of subjects, levels, and social/emotional skills is a privilege.

In my four years here at Grayling Seventh-day Adventist School, I have been grateful to work with a fantastic teacher's assistant and a group of students/families who genuinely care about each other. We have quality goals for the school year. Best of all, we are encountering a God who finds each one of us infinitely precious and who is coming to Earth very soon to be with us forever! I love teaching at a school where we learn the truth about God, ourselves, and the world around us; and I love serving our local community.

This summer, I finished my Master's in Reading Science and will apply strategies that research shows give all students an advantage when learning to read. Besides teaching, I also enjoy hiking/kayaking/camping/biking outdoors, trying new things in the kitchen, making music, creative design and/or writing, and spending time with friends and family.

Biography

We are very thankful to have Mrs. Joyce Tschetter back with us this year as our Kindergarten/Classroom Aide! Mrs. Tschetter has called Camp Au Sable home for 11 years now, 7 of which have been spent at Grayling Seventh-day Adventist School working with our students. She loves it here in the Northwoods. In fact, our little red schoolhouse reminds her of another little Seventh-day Adventist church school in Westminster, Maryland, where she first learned about Jesus as a child.

After leaving that little church school, Joyce went on to Highland View Academy and then to Andrews University, graduating with her Bachelor's degree in 1993. Joyce has knowledge and talents in horticulture, veterinary medicine, and the culinary arts, among many other things!

She is married to Scott Tschetter and has two awesome kids, Grace (18) and Finn (12). They have a crazy Jack Russell named Robbie, a cat, chickens, sheep, fish, turtles, and a couple of bee hives.
